graduated as a Master of Interpreting (KU Leuven, Faculty of Arts, Sint-Andries Campus, 2016). She also did an Advanced Bachelor “International Cooperation for North-South Relations”(UC Leuven, 2017) to strengthen her intercultural competences with a six-month internship in Brazil. In 2017, she started an Advanced Master called “Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies”, for which she conducted ethnographic research in Kigoma, Tanzania during a period of three months. For the Oncotolk project (2018-2022), a Joint PhD between Ghent University and KU Leuven, she will research which communication problems occur during interpreter-mediated consultations with migrant oncology patients, and how these communication problem affect the doctor-patient interaction. The research project aims to optimize the provision of care by improving the interaction between patients, their next of kin, interpreters and doctor during interpreter-mediated consultations, and the collaboration between doctors and interpreters.
