Antoon Cox…

toonis a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Arts. He is a linguistic ethnographer specialized in multilingual communication, multimodal data collection and interdisciplinary research. His research focuses on interpersonal communication in stressful multilingual settings such as the emergency department and asylum reception centres. Antoon is a visiting research associate at the School of Medical Education at King’s College London and the Brussels Institute of Applied Linguistics at VUB. Antoon is also a founding member of the EACH Special Interest Group on Language and cultural discordance in healthcare communication. He has been involved in projects relating to the provision of language assistance to asylum seekers in reception centers. In addition, Antoon is training and examining community interpreters.
