Adrien Carbonnet…

is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) in Belgium. He is presently Head of Japanese Studies, Director of the Center for Korean Studies at the same university and Fellow of the Institut Français de Recherche sur l’Asie de l’Est (INALCO/Université de Paris/CNRS). Besides his research and teaching on the history of international relations in East Asia during the 19th and 20th centuries, Prof. Carbonnet lectures in both Japanese and Korean languages.  He is currently translating into French the work of Kin Kakuei (1938-1985), one of the most acclaimed writers of the Korean minority in Japan. Adrien Carbonnet lives in Brussels.
